Biography

Having her roots in a family of musicians Muriël van Dinteren was born in Circus Knie in Switzerland. As the first singing student at the pre- educational program at Royal Conservatoire of The Hague in the Netherlands she finished her high school at the Conservatoire. While she was a member of the Opera studio directed by Kenneth Montgomery, she performed Genévièvre from The Long Christmas Dinner by P. Hindemith and Mme. Lidoine from Les Dialogues des Carmélites by F. Poulenc.
During her study she attended several international master classes: Diane Forlano, John Cage, Jard van Nes, Vera Rozsa en Galina Vishnevska. Muriël received private coaching by Wout Oosterkamp, Christina Deutekom,  Diane Forlano, Inga Nielsson, Marianne Cornetti and Nelly Miriciouiù. Currently she is coached by Amand Hekkers.
Muriël received a stipendium at the Bayreuther Festspiele by the Wagner society in Amsterdam.
She gave several lied recitals with her pianist Peter Nilsson, a few of which were held in  ‘de kleine zaal' at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Together with her pianist she recorded a CD ’Muriël’ with lied repertoire by R. Strauss, A. Berg, G. Verdi, P. Tosti and R. Stolz.  
Her performed opera and operetta repertoire consists of: Mimi in La Bohème by G. Puccini, Turandot in Turandot by F. Bussoni, Maddalena in Maddalena by S. Prokofjev, Beatrice in Boccacio by F. von Suppé, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus by J. Strauss, First Lady in Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart, Sieglinde 1st act in Die Walküre by R. Wagner, Silva Varescu in Die Csardasfurstin by Kalman, Fenena in Nabucco of G. Verdi and Santuzza  in Cavalleria Rusticana by P. Mascagni. In 2009 she became a member of Motion Unlimited a cinematic orchestra. www.motion-unlimited.nl Their ambition is to make performances with composers, video-artists, disigners and jazz musicians together with classic orchestra.

Muriël and Hans Schellevis were the initiators of the Foundation of De Nieuwe Nederlandse Operette (Dnno) in December 2003. De Nieuwe Nederlandse Operette/dnno was a professional production company based in Den Haag.
The goal of Dnno was to bring a wide spectrum of operetta styles to the attention of Dutch theater audiences through the production of performances, concerts and musical events. Young and old, classic and modern: there is operetta to suit any taste. Through its productions, Dnno strives to kindle enthusiasm for this multi-facetted theatrical form in a large audience, so that operetta can maintain its position as an important part of Dutch cultural life.
Production: Der VETTER aus Dingsda, a nourishing musical comedy by Eduard Kunneke, reworked and directed (and translated into Dutch) by David Prins, musical direction by Pieter Janka, arranged by Hans Schellevis, choreography by Lonneke van Leth, set designs by Arnold Schalks, costume designs by Annemiek Soeters.

Subsidy grants for “research into operetta on offer internationally“ 2006
This subsidy was requested from and given by the Fonds voor de amateur en podium kunsten (Fund for amateur and stage arts) for the purposes of attending operetta performances throughout Europe in order to attain a strong impression of the diversity of the repertoire and to build up a network for De Nieuwe Nederlandse Operette and the preparations for the Operetta Festival in Den Haag 2008.
